At one point in time the house of Cyma-Tavannes was Switzerland’s largest supplier of precision watches and was based in the town of, you guessed it, Tavannes. Hailing from Le locle but starting his own watch manufacturing company, Frederic Henri Sandoz was a pioneer in industrial watch-making systems and had as early as 1938 have a factory with 2200 machine-tools that could churn out 4000 movements a day. Some of these would be sold as bare movements that would be rebranded as something else in the emerging markets of the East. What we have here is from the period when Synchron agglomerated several Swiss watch companies under their fold. In unpolished stainless steel cushion case, this Conquistador will make believers out of the faithless.
